Embed images in your web pages for graphical illustration only. Use text for any content which you would like search engines to pick up.

Some websites display content inside images, which search engines cannot read.

An example of how both Alt (Alternate) text and Image name helps search engines identify content of an image.

Always use an Alt text value to describe what is in the image, and make sure the file name of the image says something about the contents also.
