Worst web page mistakes: 1 of 9
The worst example is when home page designers embed the link to the main website right inside the Flash object. This is a link that the search engine spiders cannot follow.
If it is a one-page website or a website where you don't want the search engines to index anything, then it is fine. (Like a website that is so temporary that there won't even be time for the search engines to crawl all over it).
Keep Flash for pages from which links are not important. Your home page is probably your most important page - it is the one that usually receives the highest search engine rankings because it is the center of your website and the page with the shortest URL.

Doorway pages (splash pages) do not contain enough text for search engines to read.

Beyond the issue of not being search engine friendly, splash pages can be annoying and confusing to the website visitor.
