One more test.

..a PageRank of 4 or 5 will be enough for this Designer Handbag company to reach page one of search results at least for some important keywords...

I spoke this morning with a client of mine, a Dolores Gill of Boen and Gill in Seattle. (I asked her permission to talk about her company here). Dolores wanted her designer handbag and accessories web outlet to appear close to, if not on, Page 1 of Google search results. I ran the same test using the search term "designer handbags" as I had done yesterday and the day before on other, unrelated search terms.

As expected, Boen and Gill's home page, with a PageRank of 2, did not appear in the first ten pages. The web pages 1 through 10 listed on the first page of Google search results had the following respective PageRanks:

6    4    6    3    4    3    5    5    4    4

Not surprisingly, with the big money industry of high fashion at stake, there appears to be some serious competition for the first page of Google search results. For the results of this particular search, the average PageRank on the first page was 4.9, an almost full point above the average of the second page (which was also the 2nd highest average of all ten pages) of search results, which was 4.1.

Still, for Dolores to ascend sufficiently from PageRank 2 is not impossible by any means; there are even a couple of PageRank 3 pages on the first page of results. (For those PageRank 3s that reached page one of search results, keyword matching scores would have been very high). With a concerted effort toward ideal keyword matches, a PageRank of 4 or 5 will be enough for Boen and Gill to reach the first page of search results at least for some important keywords.

And now, the question is, does Boen and Gill want to invest the effort in getting PageRank, Keyword Density and Frequency of changing content in order to appear on page one of search results in the five+ months timeframe it will take to get there?
