The hardest-to-get Inbound Links are often the most valuable
Inbound links are not all the same. Some are worth hundreds of times the value of others. In addition to links to your site being potentially neutralized with the nofollow tag, the website they are coming from might have low TrustRank, PageRank and web traffic.
- TrustRank: determines how reliable a website is.
- PageRank: a quality ranking for each page on the website, based on many factors.
- Web Traffic: how many unique visitors (not to be mixed up with "hits") pass through the page.
Usually, owners of sites that score highly on the above metrics know that links from their website are worth a lot, so they will dole out links carefully. In many cases, you may need to have a trusted relationship with them in order for them to agree to have a link from their site. For truly high value sites, consider becoming a regular blogger to their site, with the understanding that each link can contain a link back to your site.
Creating the bulk of high quality Inbound Links takes work and dedication. There are no easy ways to do it and there are no quick-and-easy tools out there that will do it for you.
